Dolphin and Eco/Nature Cruises

Cruise the Gippsland Lakes in search of the wonderful dolphins that frequent the lake system over our winter & spring onboard the historic Lonsdale.

During the summer months we change to Eco/Nature based cruises to explore the diverse Flora and Fauna that the Gippsland Lakes has to offer.

Your skipper Tony, is a 4th generation seaman, a local character with a great sense of humour, he has extensive knowledge of the Gippsland Lakes area and it's most interesting history.

Add to that the Lonsdale's colourful past, and you can imagine that many stories have accumulated over the years.

Departures are from the Post Office Jetty Clock Tower close to the bus set-down point and taxi ranks.

Visiting; Nungurner, Box's Creek, Chinaman's Creek, Metung, Rigby, Fraser, and Flanagan islands and the Barrier Landing, and Flag Staff jetty

Note: some of the mentioned areas may be missed due to the time we spend in areas with the dolphins.

The cruise ticket includes complimentary Tea/Coffee and biscuits. We have a basic range of - beers - wines - soft drink on board at our bar prices. Passengers are welcome to bring a picnic lunch if they wish.

All Reservations and Enquires will be confirmed or answered within 24 hours by telephone or email from Lakes Internet Promotions.

Please call us on 03 5155 3496 with your credit card details once your requested dates have been confirmed as available.

A 10% deposit will be required to secure your reservation, paid by credit card.

Balance of payment to be paid on board the Lonsdale on sailing day.

Please note "Dolphins" are protected wild animals

We are required by law to give them a measured safe distance during our cruise experience.

However dolphins are very intelligent animals and on most occasions they will actually interact with us on their own terms. During this time, we offer the respect they deserve, and appreciate the opportunity to see these wonderful animals interacting and at play close to us all onboard the Lonsdale.

We commonly see the dolphin in the Gippsland Lakes system from around the end of April right through to December, when they apparently prefer to head back out to Bass Strait for the summer.

During the winter period we often see baby (calves) & juvenile dolphins with the mothers and groups. During these times we exercise great care not to harass the groups.

We at Lonsdale cruises will do our best during the cruise to locate groups of dolphin for your visual pleasure. But, of course they do their own thing as they should, and at times are in other areas beyond our view and control.

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee sightings daily

Cancellation Policy

We require at least 48 hours notification of cancellation prior to sailing for a refund of deposit less a $10 administration fee. Cruises subject to change and/or weather conditions at the skippers discretion.
