Holidays are over - let's fish!

With the holidays over, and the kids back to school, Lakes Entrance has returned to it's sleepy fishing village status.

Pagey, from Keepers Bait and Tackle in Lake Tyers Beach says those looking to fish the lake from the bank can drive to many good spots like, Burnt Bridge,Cherry Tree, Long Point, Fishermans Landing, Camerons Hole, and many other spots easily accessable by the many tracks.

The best general rig is a small running sinker, a 2 foot leader, best baits are prawn, pilchard, pipi, white bait etc. For those looking to plastic fish it also gives you a great chance to land the big one.
For those looking to the surf, salmon, tailor and gummies are taking baits like pilchard, blue bait and eel (plenty of stocks), lures are also attracting salmon.
Anyone with a boat can chase good flatties on plastics and vibes, bream are also starting to show up around the lake, just get in close to the bank, fish near the snags and you will be rewarded.
We now have our customised charters up and running taking max 3 persons so if you want a great half day fishing give us a call 5156 5817 or 0418 509 149 to book.

Don't forget the Female Fishing Competition is open for registration, you'll find their details at www.lakesentrancefemalefishingclassic.com.au

Where are they biting?

Lakes Entrance: Some large bream have been taken off the Post Office Jetty using prawn. Trevally and Flathead are biting opposite Nyerimilang Park on pilchard and soft plastics. Eastern Beach is producing Salmon and Tailor on squid, fishing at sunrise.

Lake Tyers:
Pagey's Report -  Lake Tyers continues to prroduce flathead on the sand flats in and around the channel markers on soft plastics in the bottom of the lake.
Bream have been taking prawn and crabs and are getting agressive around snags and drop-offs. Some nice luderic being taken on weed under a float, many over 2kg.
The surf sees salmon and flathead taking bluebait and squid, but still use a popper as well. The gummies should be here this week, so eel would be a good option.
Some prawns still running, although they appear to be a little harder to get good numbers, all in all, a bit of hard work will see good results. So, "get out and get amongst them".

Mitchell River: Bream and Flathead are biting around “ Grassy Banks “on prawn and soft plastics.

Tambo River: Flathead and Bream are biting around “ Rough Road “ and the Mouth using prawn and whitebait.

Nicholson: Bream are biting at the “ Car Bodies “ on local prawn.

Metung: Flathead are biting in the Bay and the “ Back Beach “using soft plastics and prawn.

Paynesville: Luderick are biting around the Ferry and the King Street boat ramp. A few tailor are still biting in the Bay on metal lures.

Hollands Landing: Large Bream have been taken at the boat ramp on prawn. Wattle Point is producing Flathead on “ vibes “.

Marlo: Trevally, Bream and Estuary Perch are biting off the Snowy River platforms using local prawn. The surf has Tailor, Salmon and Flathead biting on bluebait and metal lures.

Bemm River: Bream and Estuary Perch are biting in the Lake on prawn and “ vibe “ lures. A few tailor and Flathead have been landed on plastic and metal lures.

Mallacoota: The bottom Lake has Salmon and Trevally biting off the Wharf on prawn and metal lures. The Top lake has Bream biting around Gipsy Point using prawn and yabbies.
