Pagey gets amongst them

Local fisherman, Ian Page, will deliver us a detailed "local" fishing report for the Lake Tyers Beach area each week.

Pagey runs Keepers Tackle, a fully stocked bait and tackle shop, nestled in beside the Waterwheel Tavern in Lake Tyers Beach.

They're a family run business, making their own brand of jig heads. Tried and tested in local conditions, these jig heads are made on Mustad hooks, making them amongst the best in the world.

Pagey reckons once you've used his jig heads, you'll never go back to the competition.

Where are they biting?

Lakes Entrance: Salmon and Trevally are biting between the Entrance and Rigby Island on pilchard with the “odd” Gurnard also taken. Salmon have also been caught around Kalimna Jetty. Best times are sunrise and sunset.

Lake Tyers: Flathead are biting in Camerons Arm using soft plastic. A few Bream have been landed on pilchard. Large Salmon are biting off the beach on blue bait.

Mitchell River: Bream and Mullet are biting above the bridge using peeled prawn and “squidgies”

Tambo River: Bream and the occasional Flathead have been taken between “The Cliffs and “Lucerne Paddock” on local prawn.

Nicholson: Mullet are biting from the bridge to the mouth. Straight Six is producing some Bream on prawn.

Metung: The jetties are fishing very well with large Luderick, Mullet, Trevally and a few Bream taking prawn and metal lures. It appears regular visits of dolphins have caused the fish to hide under the jetties.

Paynesville: Tailor and Trevally are biting off the jetties on local prawn. Schools of Mullet have been providing sport for those braving the elements.

Hollands Landing: Some large Bream are biting off the jetty and Toms Creek using metal lures.

Marlo: Plenty of Salmon and Tailor are providing action off the beaches using metal lures and “poppers”. Bream, Luderick and Mullet are biting in the Rivers on sandworm and prawn.

Bemm River: Large Bream have been taken on local prawn and “vibes”. Salmon to 2kg are biting off the beaches on blue bait, whitebait and “poppers”

Mallacoota: The recent “Comp” saw Bream to 1.6kg being “bagged” on metal lures. Some good size “Flatties” have been landed in the Genoa and Wallagaraugh Rivers on soft plastics. Salmon and Tailor are “on the go” in the surf using metal lures and bait.
